Puerto Rico ATM Receipts Say "We Hate Fags"
Posted on 17:17 by Unknown
Just when you think you've seen it all, there's now an ATM machine in Puerto Rico printing out receipts that say "We Hate Fags," instead of Gracias. The ATM machine in question is located in a bar on San Juan. The bar itself has nothing to do with this, the machine is owned by another company, and they've disconnected the machine and filed complaints.
The ATM company’s president Jorge Torres said “someone from the outside gained access to the system and programming of the machine.” Torres said his company did not intentionally offend the LGBT community and would upgrade its ATM security to make sure nothing like this would happen in the future.
I believe Torres. I have seen this before. On the day of the last presidential inauguration I went to wiki to link to an article about Richard Blanco, a gay poet who was reading at the inauguration, and found that someone had hacked into wiki and written some of the most vicious comments I've ever read. I posted about this here. Someone from Wiki must have been paying attention because the comments disappeared within fifteen minutes. But I did take screen shots. I never posted them and never will post them. But it's interesting how hate is now trickling into technology, too.
You can read more here about the ATM article.
